Prior to 2017, Central District Netball Club represented the Northern region as Harlequin Netball Club, a foundation member of the Elizabeth Netball Association since 1967 and Netball SA affiliated Adelaide Metropolitan Netball Division and Premier League Club since 2003.
The strategic alliance that was established in 1998 with Central District Football Club provided Harlequin with additional opportunities to encourage Netball participation in the North but was limited by its clear distinction with the Football Club.
After a restructure in 2014, foundation plans commenced to undertake a major re-brand of Harlequin Netball Club and finally facilitate the long-term goal of UNITING THE NORTH.
This strategic alliance will provide both Clubs with opportunities to provide aspiring Netballers and Footballers with an avenue for elite participation.
Central District Football Club has a long history of success in the South Australian National Football League, its members and supporters taking pride in their Club and a reputation for their loyalty and passion.
Central District Netball Club looks to draw on this history and add to the success of Central District, by participating in the highest pre-elite competition, the Nine News Netball Cup in the coming years.
